Summertime Events 2011

July 2011- Usually summertime is a rather quiet time.  Not this July for Baton Rouge Pipes and Drums.  We had numerous gigs starting with the Kenilworth Independence Parade here in Baton Rouge.  It is a fun family affair, an old fashioned parade full of children, bands and politicians.  It was especially delightful this year as we were escorted by a vintage fire engine full of kids.  A week later in Baton Rouge several band members were asked to play a graduation ceremony for specialty firefighters from various states.  The next day the band traveled to New Orleans for the National Fire Marshal’s Convention.  Later in the month, fourteen band members traveled back to New Orleans for the Airborne Law Enforcement Convention.   We entertained the audience for 45 minutes before the banquet and then played for the always moving memorial service honoring last year’s fallen members.   The accolades and appreciation we received were overwhelming and humbling; the audience was from all over the country. It is our privilege to serve you.  Thanks, for the commemorative coins, caps and the superb Creole dinner.   We also really loved being followed out of the hotel and begged for one more encore on the street!!!!

Baton Rouge Pipes and Drums 2010  We have been given a special treat this year for the Kenilworth Independence Day Parade - a ride on an antique fire truck!! Look for us this Friday evening, July 2nd at 6:30 starting from the school on Boone Drive. Come celebrate our independence with the Baton Rouge Pipes and Drums - still Free and Independent!

Baton Rouge Pipes and Drums 2009 What a grand time we had last night at the Independence Day Parade! We saw and heard dozens of our loyal fans lining the streets calling out to us. Thanks for the friendly waves and shouts of appreciation. Thanks to Pat Shingleton - the 1947 fire truck was awesome. We were also happy to be a part of the State Fire Marshal convey - they are a big support to us. Hope you saw us on WBRZ TV news. We ARE the Band!!
