Christmas Parades 2011

12/9/2011 3:59:07 PM

December 17, 2011 - This has been the year for Christmas Parades in South Louisiana as we were asked by the town of New Roads to help debut their Christmas festival and parade.  So we marched down historic LA 1 along the banks of False River at twilight past the lovely shotgun houses,  Cajun cabins and cottages and even an above ground graveyard.  It was a bit nippy so we gathered afterwards for a bite to eat at one of the best known restaurants in town/state.   The fresh hot rolls and seafood gumbo for me was ideal. Bagpiping (and drumming) in Louisiana rocks!

Baton Rouge Pipes and Drums - December 3, 2011 We had a wonderful day in Elton, LA with the Coushatta Nation at their Christmas Parade.  We were honored to also perform after the parade on the marketplace stage.  The hospitality was phenomenal!  We were told that this was the first experience with kilties and bagpipes for most of those in the crowd; we love to spread Scottish culture!  Our band was also featured in the Lake Charles American Press and Jennings newspapers later that week.  Another first!
